Norton Club Ride ScheduleSummer/Fall 2012* May 6 (Sunday) – Glendora Ridge/Mt. Baldy Ride: meet at Buchanan’s, 805 W. 8th St, Azusa for coffee and doughnuts; ride leaves at 10 am; lunch in Mt. Baldy Village; a short, spectacular route. Click Here to view map!!! We haven’t done this short but scenic ride in a few years but it’s worth revisiting. June 1-3 (weekend) – 16th Annual Cambria/Big Sur Ride: meet in Cambria on Friday evening at the West End Grill. Ride leaves the Redwood Café at 8:30 am Saturday morning through wine country, Carmel Valley and on to the Monterey Pier for lunch (with secure reserved parking on site!) and returns via the entire 108 miles of Big Sur in the afternoon. Plenty of motels in town and on Moonstone Beach. Club headquarters at the Creekside Motel, 800 269-5212. Get your reservations now for California's most iconic riding experience. Note - Route 66 participants are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to join us for the Cambria/Big Sur Ride, about 275 mixed highway miles as a great test run for our 2000 mile journey in September. July 1 (Sunday) - Wrightwood Over the Crest: meet at Burger Continental, 53S. Lake, Pasadena. Click Here to view map!!! Ride leaves at 10 am for the "hot way" trip to Wrightwood via Angeles Forest, Mt. Emma and Fort Tejon Road, returning via the Crest in the afternoon. August 12 (Saturday) - Prince of Darkness/Mulholland Drive: meet at 6 pm at Glory (4659 Hollywood Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90027 ), Hollywood Blvd just east of Vermont; ride leaves at 7 pm through Hollywood and over Mulholland to Bob's Big Boy in Toluca Lake; great fun for over 20 years and a chance to show off for the civilians on Ventura Blvd. September 7-9 (Weekend) - 12th Annual High Sierras/Yosemite Ride: meet in Mariposa on Friday evening, Highway 49/140; ride leaves the Miners Inn at 8:30 Saturday morning for Sonora, Ebbets/Monitor Pass and Bridgeport returning to Mariposa on Sunday via Tioga Pass, Yosemite and the Merced River by about 1 pm. Our longest ride each year, several 9000 ft. passes and 60-80 mile stretches of "sweepers". Note - Chris Hovland, one of our club's most dependable and best riders, will be heading this year's Sierra's run. September 8 -16. Get your kicks on Route 66, St. Louis to Santa Monica: Ride leaves St. Louis at 8:30 am on Saturday, September 8 following the traditional Route 66 wherever reasonable, avoiding the interstates when possible, across Missouri, Oklahoma, the Texas panhandle, New Mexico, Arizona and the Grand Canyon (about 250 miles a day) to Santa Monica Pier on Sunday afternoon, September 16. Details will be emailed to all potential riders, volunteers, sponsors etc. September 30 (Sunday) - BSA Club All British Swap Meet in Orange, CA. See details on the BSA calendar. October 11 - 14 (Thursday - Sunday) - SLO Classic Rally and Show: a weekend on the Central Coast centered on San Luis Obispo; details to follow on Norton Club participation, motels, etc; see centralcoastclassicmc.com. November 4 (Sunday) - 33rd Annual Hansen Dam All British Ride: the 23rd year of Norton Club sponsorship of "the best ride by a dam site", one of the country's biggest classic bike rides according to Cycle World; Osborne exit off the 210 Freeway in the Sunland/Tujunga area at the Hansen Dam Recreation Area; details to follow but don't (ever) miss THE Hansen Dam Ride if you enjoy British motorcycles. * Contact Bib: 626 791-0259 or E-mail regarding details on Norton Club (and related) events.
