February 24th    Ojai Pilgrimage 

Enjoy the cool weather as we take the back roads out of Moorpark to Ojai and visit private car and motorcycle collections. Meet at Cactus Patch Café located at 197 E High Street in Moorpark. Ride departs at 10AM sharp.

 

March 30th  – April 1st   Death Valley

Here’s one for the hard-core rider in all of us…this is a 3-day event where we can enjoy the amazing scenery of this part of California when we won’t die of heat! Meet on Saturday morning at Crazy Otto’s located at 1228 W Avenue I in Lancaster. Ride departs at 9AM sharp.

 

Saturday & Sunday April 27th – 28th   Yucca Valley / Pioneer Town

For April, we have a special two-day ride planned to Yucca Valley by way of Pioneer Town and Lucerne Valley.  This will be a very scenic ride with no freeway miles.  Meet Saturday morning at the Shell gas station (bottom of Hwy 2 at the 210 Fwy) located at 4530 Angeles Crest Highway in La Canada, maps will be provided.  The club headquarters for Saturday night is the Travelodge Inn in Yucca Valley, rooms are going fast, so please contact the hotel directly at 760.365.3311 or reservetl@gmail.com to reserve your room. Use reservation code L123 to get our reduced Norton Club rate. Ride departs at 9AM sharp.

 

Sunday May 19th   Frazier Park

This is a great one-day ride through the beautiful region of Frazier Park. Meet at Big John’s Mountain Grill located at 3121 Mount Pinos Way in Frazier Park. Come early for breakfast, kick tires, etc.  Ride departs at 10AM sharp.

 

Friday May 31st – Sunday June 2nd    Cambria

This is a wonderful, scenic ride through California’s Central Coast. Meet in Cambria Friday evening for dinner, drinks and camaraderie. Saturday morning we will gather at the Redwood Cafe located at 2094 Main Street in Cambria for an early breakfast and hit the road at 9AM sharp.  From Cambria we will enjoy a scenic day ride up to Carmel Valley via rural country roads. Once there we’ll grab lunch and visit the Moto Talbot Collection. On the way back we will take the recently reopened Pacific Coast Highway. The club headquarters for this event is the Creekside Inn located at 2618 Main St, Cambria 93428, contact phone is 805.927.4021. We currently have a room block for the Norton Club, call soon to reserve a room at the special rate.

Wednesday July 17th     Gerry Hickson Remembrance 

Join us as we celebrate the life of Gerry Hickson. Meet at Lucky Baldwin’s Trappiste located at 1770 E Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena at 6PM. Joining us will be his grandson Gavin and fiance Ele.

John Gerry Hickson was 90 years old. Born in England on the 23rd of December 1927, he served in the RAF at the end of WWII as an aircraft mechanic. He then worked for Rolls Royce Aircraft as well as aboard a steamship as chief engineer. In addition to riding in the famous TT on an AJS, he was a professional golfer and avid builder of British motorcycles. After some time in Bermuda, he lived in Pasadena where he worked for a number of years at Rusnak Rolls Royce.

Gerry had one daughter and several grandchildren, including Gavin.

 

Sunday July 21st    Wrightwood

Another beautiful one-day ride through the Angeles National Forest via Hwy 2 to Wrightwood for lunch. Meet at Lucky Baldwin’s Trappiste located at 1770 E Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena. Ride departs at 9AM sharp.

 

Saturday August 10th     Prince of Darkness – Night Ride

Charge up the batteries, you’ll need ‘em…this is our annual “night ride” over the Mulholland Hills to Bob’s Big Boy in Toluca Lake for a bite to eat. Meet at the Los Feliz Café located at 3207 Los Feliz Boulevard in Los Angeles.  Ride departs at 7PM sharp.

 

Friday – Sunday September 6th – 8th     High Sierra – Mono Lake

Join us as we try something new this year! New route will take us on the east side of the High Sierra range near and around Mono Lake.  Our ride headquarters/meet location will be Murphey’s Motel located in Lee Vining. We have a room block under “Norton Club”, please call and reserve your room. Plan to arrive on Friday night and check out Sunday, however, there are some that like to stay the extra day and depart Monday. Day trips are planned for Saturday & Sunday, nothing official for Monday at this time. Ride departs at 9AM both days.

 

Saturday September 14th     Night Ride to Newcomb’s Ranch (actual destination is Chilao School

This is a first for the Norton club, join us as we brave the darkness of Hwy 2! Crazy you say? Maybe even the word stupid came to mind? Well, we are the Norton club and danger is our middle name! Meet at the Shell station located at Hwy 2 & 210 Fwy for a exciting twilight ride up the hill where we will have a taco truck waiting for us at the Chilao School (just past the Maintenance Station, 2 miles south of Newcomb’s Ranch) courtesy of the Norton Club. We’ll head down around 9PM or so assisted by a nice full moon.  Ride departs the Shell Station at 6:30PM sharp.

 

Sunday October 6th    Mt. Baldy Run – Norton Club Invades the BSA Club!

Enjoy an early fall ride to Mt Baldy by invitation of the BSA Club, lunch stop at the Mt. Baldy Lodge. Meet at Buchanan’s Spoke & Rim located at 805 W 8th Street in Azusa, 91702. Ride departs at 10:30AM sharp.

 

Sunday November 3rd     40th Annual Hansen Dam Ride Event

Clean up that Classic British motorcycle and get it ready for the road and attend the largest Classic Motorcycle event of the year in Southern California. We have a 75+ mile mapped out, feel free to come by as early as 8AM for coffee and donuts, after the ride we’ll have the grill fired up and will be serving lunch. Meet at the lower lot of Hansen Dam on Dronfield (off Osborne). .  Riders on British Iron will receive free Hansen Dam ride pins! Ride departs at 10AM sharp.

 

December 31st     Run for the Roses 

Our final ride of the year…always fun! Meet at Lucky Baldwin’s Trappiste located at 1770 East Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena. We’ll ride up to Newcomb’s Ranch on Angeles Crest/Hwy 2.  Return to Congregation Ale House located at 300 S. Raymond Avenue in Pasadena.  Ride Maps will be handed out prior to departure.  Take your classic motorcycle out for the last day of the year and enjoy this fantastic ride in our backyard!  Southern California Norton Owners Club 2018 Run for the Roses pins will be handed out to all riders!  Ride departs at 10AM sharp.

Sunday – January 19th    Rockin’ BBQ at Dan Schoenwald’s

Join us and view one of the best private collections of British motorcycles in Southern California! Dan Shoenwald opens his doors in Camarillo once a year to host the Norton Club for this event. We will have a great BBQ lunch and live music by a local members band, The Sons…come hang out, eat some good food and see an amazing collection of motorcycles. Meet at Café 50’s located at 11623 Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles. Maps to will be handed out prior to departure . Ride departs at 9AM sharp.

Join us a for beautiful one day ride by way of Green Valley to the Rock Inn for lunch. Meet at the Hansen Dam parking lot entrance on Foothill. Ride departs at 9AM sharp.

Recreating the epic one week ride from 2013 where we had over thirty riders barrelling down the coast from Tacoma, Washington to Los Angeles, California with some great sites along the way. Stay tuned, details to follow…

The Norton club has never cancelled a ride due to a weather FORECAST. If, however, at the scheduled time of departure the folks who do show up for breakfast decide not to ride due to rain, snow or…, then the ride may be re-scheduled, most likely for the following week.
